I am very happy to say this is my last post. Tomorrow is move-in day!!! We are thrilled with how the house looks.

The tile in the kitchen and bathrooms is beautiful! The trim work and the other painting is wonderful!

One thing I would like to mention before signing off...our paperwork noted that it is approximately 100 days to complete a house for Crownline Homes. From the date we broke ground to today is EXACTLY 100 days.

We appreciate Scott and all the subs for a wonderful job! It is now time to sign off for the last time and get to living in our beautiful new home!

The first pic makes it look like the home of Vlad the Impaler. I can assure you he has been banished to the basement. ;)

The railing has been done and the staining is in progress. Crown moulding is done above the kitchen cabinets...appliances are all in (except my fridge).

Carpeting has started in the basement AND, we have running water. I can't believe by this time next week, I will have made my last post on this project.

We would do it all over again and have thoroughly enjoyed working with Scott (our builder). If we could have done it while living in a mansion that someone else is paying for, that would have been nice. :)

Getting closer!!

Lots of the small things are happening making things look more finished. The moulding in the shower is up, the faucets have started to be installed, and the kitchen cabinet knobs and trim have been put on.

We have finished painting bedroom #2, so we're doing okay. Last picture is my ceiling paint job from last night. UGH! I still have to patch that up.

Red Room! Red Room!

I'm a BIG fan of "The Shining" and I couldn't help myself. We have been told that carpet is going in on Tuesday. Time to kick it into ludicrous speed!

Tonight, I touched up the "red/pumpkinish" room. It took a few hours because I didn't have any painters' tape. UGH! I'm not as fast as I used to be and I hit the ceiling! Didn't take the camera tonight, but I will get picks to post as I paint. (say that three times fast)

I'll post more pictures Sunday night. I have a feeling I'll be a little too busy to get anything else done until then.

Doors & trim are being painted!!

Things are really coming together now. The doors and trim are being painted. We will come back through and retrim the walls with the wall paint and painting is done-done! Clear as mud?

Today was another very exciting day. We have kitchen countertops! Those are EARLY!!! So...since we are ahead of the game, we found out tonight that the basement carpet has been discontinued...2 months ago! UGH!

We have crown moulding on the tray ceilings in the master bedroom. We also have it on the built-in entertainment center.

The trim and door painters are prepping the floors and windows for paint.

More of the finishing touches are going up and the results are beautiful! I have to say that I love the work of the trim carpenter. We can't wait for all of this to be finished and painted.

This has probably been the slowest of the processes, but he is doing an amazing job!!! We are very glad he is taking his time to do it right.

No green doors!

So, Todd and Erin, if you are reading this entry, you will be happy to know that my 2 best girlfriends saved you from staring at an ugly green door. I picked green as the front door color and was vetoed this evening.

The following pics are the master bathroom vanity (1st), the shower (2nd), the main bath shower (3rd), stomping the concrete patio (4th) and garage door openers, last.

Getting closer by the day and had time to have a little fun and dinner with friends this evening! That was the shot in the arm we really needed.

Now, I have to repick a paint color for the front door....

Hittin' the Hi-Lights

Lots going on today. The roof is being redone, the tile in the bathrooms is moving along, I have lights in most of the main floor and we have the crown moulding that will be installed over the cabinets ready to go.

Our closing date is November 23rd. We are very close to being done and yet there is still so much to be done. In fact, we are running out the door as soon as I finish typing tonight's entry.

Best thing for me today is that my kitchen is looking more and more like a living space!!!

We have a driveway!

Well, since we switched to standard time, it is going to be dark by the time we get out to the house after work.

The driveway was poured today. I did get a pic of the forms with the pea gravel. The master bath vanity was placed today. AND our yard was really torn up by the cement truck. Blasted rain!!!

The new shingles are on the roof ready to replace the rainbow ones. Hopefully, THESE will all be one color.

Painting is done!!!

The wall painting is DONE! We swept all the floors and cleaned up trash today. We took the light fixtures over to be installed tomorrow. It will be nice to have light when we go. Once the baseboards, crown moulding and doors have been painted, we will need to touch up, but we're done for now.

That's a good feeling!!! No pictures today. Once I got a room cleaned up, we had to wait for the dust cloud to settle. I looked like Pigpen when I left there tonight.

Hopefully, I will have pictures of rooms with lights installed this week.

Am I Blue...?

I'm not blue, but we have a LOT of blue rooms in this house. We have ONE more room to paint (which happens tomorrow) and we are DONE with the painting...until we have to touch up around the trim and doors.

The first room is Jennifer's room and the next is our media room. Blue is a tranquil color. Hopefully, it will keep out any bad karma!

Next pic is all the stuff still needing installed in the garage and the last is of a paint spot left on the floor by the painters. After tomorrow, I think I'm going to fire them! :) I will clean up my mess then.

How appropriate that the first appliance to go into the kitchen is the wine fridge. What I haven't bothered to ask is where is the wine...?

Next is the tile which has been started in the bathroom, following that are the frosted french doors to the sun porch and finally, is a complete and not so crooked picture of the front of our house. The sidewalk will be poured tomorrow (weather permitting).

Kitchen cabinets are going up!!

Things are really starting to take shape! We have tile on the sunporch, cabinets started in the kitchen and laundry room, and MORE stone on the front porch.

The shingle company came back to assess the multi-colored shingle situation and will hopefully get those replaced this week...weather permitting.

Have you noticed that is has rained just about EVERY day since we started on the exterior of the house? We will likely have about 6+ inches of rain in October...the normal is 2.5.

The first picture is our first sign of "our stuff" in the house. I don't think we're going to move it (unless we have to).

2nd picture is the master bedroom. It will look much better once the crown molding has been installed. The next two are guest bedrooms and the last is the family room.

We could have finished the painting this weekend, but we had to fix the gray. SO, we're not as far along as we wanted to be, but we still made progress. By the way, poor Mike hates every color with the exception of the gold room. He's being a trooper to go along with the plan to see the final product.

Hello!

We have been very busy with painting. We have purchased so much paint, that our local store ran out, so we bought more on the other side of town. BAD IDEA! It doesn't match. (Yes, we took the can lids so they could match the color numbers...) I think we would fire the painters, but we can't since they are also the owners. (wink-wink)

In any event, we have the dining room painted and the sunporch. It is being prepped for tile.

Interior doors and trim have started

We are still painting and will likely be at it until Sunday evening. In the meantime, the tile in the master bathroom has been started...AND some of the interior doors and trim has been installed.

We're covered in paint and very tired, but we did start painting today. Thanks to EVERYONE who helped!!! We wouldn't be as far along as we are without it. Mike and I accomplished a big portion of the basement tonight.

They started the stone around the front door today. I'm looking forward to seeing that complete. Hopefully, they will get it done before it starts raining again.

We have tile in our basement bathroom (as well as paint) AND the basement family/pool room has been painted. One pic is before and one is after.

Burying Downspouts and Stomping Ceilings

In the last post I said we would share more photos when the painting started, but there is so much going on today...I had to do another post.

Today, they are burying downspouts and stomping the ceilings. Painting will start Monday. I'm not sure how were going to work this all out, but we will be doing the painting ourselves. Things will look VERY different by this time next week!

Hello!

We have the drywall finished, but with the cold and rainy weather, we have to wait until Monday before painting starts. SO, I will be finalizing the paint colors. If we were ready over the weekend, we would be doing it ourselves. Since the painting can't commence until next week, I think we'll have the regular paint contractor do most of it. I think I would like to try painting in the bedrooms. (Everywhere we have to change colors...)

That's it for tonight. We'll post more pictures next week unless the installing of the stone around the front door starts.

Drywall finishers have started

Okay, so remember about a week ago when I said the siding would be finished?...It really wasn't and still isn't. Instead of being 80% there, we are 95% there (some pieces are on backorder).

The drywall finishers started early and are still there this evening!

We have drywall in the garage and the rest of the house. The finishing crew will HOPEFULLY start tomorrow. Once they are out and the mud is dry, I can get to work with the paint! I thought I had all the colors picked out and now that we're getting close, I'm not so sure. :)

I have a few days to decide. We were also told we could use the paint that doesn't need primer. If that is the case, the painting will go VERY quickly!...once I decide the color....

Dust, Dust and more Dust

Drywallers worked hard all weekend. They ran out of sheet rock, so they will be finishing up tomorrow. Just in time for the drywall finishing crew.

I'll describe the views below each picture.

Beautiful Day - Drywall Started

I made a drive to BEAUTIFUL Southern Indiana today. Before I left, I stopped by to check on the house. The drywallers were there bright and early. Here is the first sheet to go up in the bathroom.

I also added a picture I took out my windshield. It was a lucky point and click shot, but I think it turned out okay.

Messy, Messy, Messy! It has done nothing but rain for two days! The first pic is the view out the front door. Ick!

The good news is the sump pump pit is pretty clear!

The drywall has been delivered and distributed throughout the house. I hear the crew may work this weekend. We might be painting this time next week!!!

Hello!

The insulation is in and the siding is going up. By this time tonight, the siding is completely done, but it was too dark to get pictures.

The bricks are done, and the drywall will start on Friday. The stone will likely start next week. We will also be getting a new roof. The shingles were ordered and some of the dye lots were very different.

We had to get a new camera a couple of weeks ago, and I think there is something in the settings I don't have quite right. My pictures are a little blurry.

The brick is completed around the garage, the wiring is well underway. The siding has arrived and the bathtub in the basement has been installed.

We were told that drywall will start on Thursday.

The photos of plumbing are not very exciting, but we do have some progress. You can now see the red and blue (hot and cold) water lines being installed. We did see that some of the shingles were the wrong dye lot, so the roofers will be back.

There was also more brick installed. They didn't go as fast today as they did yesterday. I was a little disappointed about that but it may be because the arches above the windows need to dry before they go forward.

We are under a strong wind advisory, but some of the shingles have been placed. They are still there, which is good! The bricks have "started"...well, there are 3 on the ground.

We have one tub in the basement and the other one installed on the main floor. We also have the plumbing in for the washer.

Garage Doors and Shingles have Started!

Today, the garage doors were installed and some of the shingles. It started raining so the shingles are not complete.

The bricks also arrived. I hear they will start brick work on Monday! We talked with Scott (the builder) tonight and he thinks things will be going pretty fast from here on out.

We do the electrical walk through next week (hopefully Monday). We are well on our way. Before you know it, I will be in there painting rooms!!!

The front door was installed today. This is exciting! Not sure why it is so exciting for me, but it is. :)

We have steps in the garage to enter the house. The gas line is in for the stove and the vent hose is in.

Basement rooms are being framed

The framers have told us that tomorrow is their last day. I'm happy they are nearly done, but we will miss seeing them every day! They have done a great job with a very small crew!

The first picture is of our built-in storage area. The kids' items will be stowed here until we kick the bucket, then they can deal with it all. :)

The second pic is of one of the bedrooms...you can see the well to the outside.

The last pic is of the windows to the outside...the glass will go in soon.

1. Art niche in the hallway.
2. 1/2 wall in the kitchen will have a bar for extra space.

Windows are done

Windows are done and the basement stairs are "installed." I use that term loosely because the stairs are not completely fastened down but you can walk up and down them. The heating and cooling has also been installed.

There was one window casualty, but that will be repaired. Our front door swang the wrong direction, so that is being fixed as we speak.

We are hoping the roofers come tomorrow and put on the shingles...

The third picture is of my music room from the family room. There will be an arched opening on one side and the arched window on the other. Very cool! This is my favorite part, so far.

Windows have started

For those of you who think my house is crooked, I can assure you, it's just me. The pictures of the back of the house are taken from the car, so that is PART of it... :)

As you can see, the windows in the back of the house are all installed. We went out yesterday and swept up sawdust and picked up extra lumber. Mike is working away keeping the lot cleaned up. He has a project which makes him happy!

Here, we have the front of the house with the black paper on the roof. I think they call it tar paper, but I can't remember....

Next are shots of the house. The interior pics are of the family room and the sunporch (respectively). I cannot wait to sit and relax in that room!!!! I can already see it will be my favorite place because of the view to the pond. I didn't capture that in the photo, but it is nice!

This has been a very busy week of activities for yours truly, so I am playing catch up and hitting the highlights of the week.

We have the outside of the house as it looks today, a gratuitous pic of the grandbaby #2 (aka Keegan); a picture of the beautiful lane you drive down to get into the subdivision; stair frames for the basement and our windows and exterior doors have arrived.

Heating and cooling starts next week! :)

Starting to look like a house from the back

So we went out today and made our decision on light fixtures and such. After that, we went to the house to decide where to put things. We are planning fools! Gotta' have a plan!

I took pictures of the back of the house for today's blog so you can see what it looks like from the back. The part jutting out is the 4-season sun porch, aka extended kitchen eating area when the relatives visit...OR the margaritas at sunset area...

Roof Sheathing has started too

The sheathing on the roof has started. Is it mostly in the back. Unfortunately, I didn't get pictures of that today. I will go back and get some more photos tomorrow. We cannot believe how much was accomplished since this time a week ago!

Trusses are up...well, mostly...

Mike was the photographer today. We have most of the trusses up. The past week has been remarkable for the amount of work. We haven't mentioned there is only a 3-man crew most of the days. They are some fast and steady workers!!!

Scott (the builder) is getting married tomorrow...Good luck! We're hoping that he will come back from his honeymoon to see even more change!!

This is one of the most exciting days for us! We actually have something that really looks like a house. They were building some of the trusses today and put most of the exterior sheathing on today.

We can walk from room to room within the house which makes it easier to picture everything complete.

Tomorrow is the day the roof trusses go up.

Wednesday's Post, Part 2

Today, there was a flurry of activity. The extra supports have been added to prepare for the trusses. Some of the exterior sheeting has been added. The first pic is from the living room to the sun room (right to left).

I know the rooms are not easily identifiable, but I took the pictures so you can see the difference in the amount of lumber in the house now versus Tuesday. We are very pleased with how hard the contractors are working!!!

First Floor Wall Framing Starts

Okay...the first picture is the view I mentioned in yesterday's blog entry. This is what we will see out of the back of the house. (try to envision it without the huge pile of dirt...) This is why we bought this lot!

The subfloor is done today on the first floor. The framing for the first floor walls has begun. We are expecting rain next week, so I'm not sure how far we will get.

Yesterday was a bust because they didn't have very much lumber. Today was different. They worked hard and got a bunch done. One snag, though...the plumber put a drain in the wrong spot. Jennifer has a drain in what will be her bedroom. They will have to change that....

When I saw the Purdy truck on my way to work this morning, I was giddy as a school girl! The basement floor along with the garage floor have been poured and the lumber is at the lot ready for framing to begin. There will be more, of course, but this is a great start to the week!

Plumbing and Backfill are in

Hello!

We had some computer issues last night, so I didn't have a chance to post anything. Yesterday, they backfilled the hole and installed the plumbing in the basement. Mike was supervising yesterday at lunch.

As the old song says, "Here comes the rain, again"...we will not have a basement floor today, but they will pour on Monday. They will frame next week! :)

Sealant is on and window wells are installed

Hello, everyone!

The basement sealant is on and so are the basement window wells. The plumber will be there tomorrow to lay some pipe. The insulation will go on over the sealant and then, they will backfill the hole. On Friday, barring any bad weather, they will pour the basement floor and the basement will be as done as it needs to be before the framing starts.

We are expecting some rain the rest of the week, so keep your fingers crossed that all goes on schedule. If it does, we'll be framing next week!

The preceding picture is of the above-ground basement windows in the back of the house. We are trying to get as much natural light in there as possible.

Basement Wall Forms are Gone

On Saturday, I took a picture of the window well for the basement, but since I didn't have many for today's, I thought I would toss it in.

The basement forms were removed today. I didn't have a chance to get to the lot until after all our Tuesday festivities...so the pics are kinda' boring.

We just missed the cement truck! I stopped at lunch and got the crew working away to prep for the pour. When I stopped after work, the cement was poured and still very wet.

We resisted the urge to put our initials in the cement...we might do the driveway, though. :) The forms will come down tomorrow!

Hello!

Yesterday was still a bit damp and cold, but there were signs of kids on the dirt pile. You can buy the most expensive toys, but a big pile of dirt is the best!

On Saturday the concrete guys were hard at work getting more of the forms put up. They lost a day on Thursday because of the rain. Barring any more bad weather, we expect the basement to be poured, sealed and complete by Friday.

They expect to pour on Monday. Not sure if I will get shots of that, but I will try.

Well,

It didn't start raining until we came out to get pictures. THEN, it poured. I braved the weather to get a couple of today's shots. There was no progress yesterday because of the rain, but as you can see, they worked hard today.

Today, we have had several showers and tonight we are having some severe weather in the area. In spite of all this, the neighbor kids have had a chance to play on the big dirt pile AND there is more progress on the house. Today some of the basement wall forms were installed. They will finish the install and then pour cement. Exciting!!!

The forms for the basement footer have been removed. I didn't get pictures because I don't think you could really see the difference. The forms for the basement walls should be going up tomorrow so I'll get some pictures then. Scott, our builder says we may be framing the house by this time next week. YAY!

Hello!

No blog yesterday because we were spending time with Bridget and Bill, Mike's cousins from Texas. It is always great to see them! (I'm not just saying that because they have access to this blog, either.) :)

We were told they were supposed to frame the basement for the pour on Monday. That hasn't happened, and I don't think it will today. They did dig out a little more. We asked our new neighbor, Todd to take our picture in the hole. He was kind enough to oblige. Everyone, say Hello to Todd. He's in the last picture.

Well, it's official. We have a hole. I did a drive-by on my way to work this morning and saw the heavy equipment at the lot, so I had a feeling this would be the day. Scott, our builder sent me a few more pics throughout the day and I swang by on my way home to get the finished product. I have never been so happy to see a hole in the ground as I was today!!! I think the dogs could have knocked this out in a couple of hours, though...

We do have progress, but there is still no hole in the ground. The digging area is all painted, so we're at the next step. I couldn't show that without a REALLY tall ladder, so no pics today. Well, the best we can hope for is tomorrow...again.

Well, here we are at Monday and there is no hole. Please note the sky. We were told that they didn't dig today because it MIGHT rain. We had clear blue sky all day. They made a little progress, though. There are signs and all utilities are marked. Maybe tomorrow....

Just Getting Started

Hey, All!
We decided to start a blog of the new house progress so everyone can check in on the fun. I will use that term loosely because I'm sure there will be some tension as we go.
Today is Sunday, August 9th. We anticipate that digging will commense on Monday, but we'll see.
We are ready for the process to start! Here is the starting point. First are pictures of the lot. Next are the orange stakes of joy! This is our first sign of progress!
